SatSmart’s Global Satellite/Cellular Communication System

SatSmart’s Global Satellite/Cellular Communication System is a sophisticated hardware and software solution. The Smart 3000D Unit is installed on a marine vessel or any land mobile vehicle. The Unit receives accurate positioning signal from GPS satellites system. The Unit establishes two-way data communication with satellites, either a net of Iridium Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites or Inmarsat GEO Satellite Messaging Network and, optionally, with GPRS Cellular Data Communication. The LEO or GEO satellites communicate with Satellite Ground Stations (Gateways) located at various spots around the globe. SatSmart’s Application Internet Server communicates, via the Internet, with the Satellite Ground Stations, and/or with the Cellular receivers (optional). The SatSmart user, or anyone authorized by the user, can access via the Internet, the SatSmart’s Application Internet Server. Here the user, or anyone authorized by the user, can track the Unit’s location (see where the Unit is located) read messages sent from the Unit and write messages to the Unit. In addition, the user, or anyone authorized by the user, can see the output of sensors connected to the Unit (optional) and send Remote Commands to the Unit which will apply those commands to equipment connected to the Unit (optional).

SatSmart’s Application Internet Server

SatSmart’s Application Internet Server is the User’s Control & Command Center. It enables the following functions:

Tracking. From here, the user, or anyone authorized by the user, can Track, or see, the location of the Smart 3000D Unit, which is actually the user’s remote asset where the Unit is installed. The present and past locations of the Unit, or the user’s remote asset, is shown on a map, with the ability to zoom in and out and measure distances on the map. For users having few Smart 3000D Units, installed on few remote assets, the user can see and track location of each and every Unit, which is the location of each and every remote asset.

Free Text Messaging. The user can also read on SatSmart’s Application Internet Server, Messages sent from the Unit. Messages are Free Text Messages. The user can also write and send Free Text Messages from SatSmart’s Application Internet Server to the Unit. This is two-way Free Text Messaging.

Emergency Alerts are pre-defined signals sent from the Unit by pressing defined buttons on the Unit’s Panel. Those Alarm Signals appear on SatSmart’s Application Internet Server and they can be sent automatically to any User’s e-mail address(es), which can be an emergency service, towing service or any other service the user will sign service subscription with. Please bear in mind that signing any such service subscription is the responsibility of the user, since SatSmart does not give any such services, other than SatSmart’s Application Internet Server.

Remote Sensor Monitoring and Data Retrieval are options. The user can connect the Smart 3000D Unit to various sensors or data outputs of any device having such outputs. The output of the sensors, or the data, can be seen on SatSmart’s Application Internet Server and it can also be sent automatically by e-mail to any e-mail address defined by the user. Thus, the output of the sensors, or data, can be monitored anywhere, without the need to first enter SatSmart’s Application Internet Server.

Remote Commands is another possibility. The user can send Commands to the Smart 3000D Unit. Commands can be Tracking, to see the Unit’s present location, or to have the Unit send its location at time intervals specified by the user, or stop sending its location. When the Smart 3000D Unit is connected by the user to remote-activated appliance (optional), the user can send activating and de-activating Commands to those appliance. Remote Commands can be sent from SatSmart’s Application Internet Server or by unique, pre-defined, e-mail messages sent from anywhere on the globe.

Two-way E-mail Messaging

The Smart 3000D Unit can send and receive e-mail messages via a PC (not supplied by SatSmart) or Palm Pilot (not supplied by SatSmart). This e-mail messaging can be done from anywhere on the globe without the need to register the Smart 3000D Unit to any Internet Service Provider. Two-way e-mail messaging is a service provided by SatSmart.

PC Interface

PC Interface is embedded in the Smart 3000D Unit, either directly or by a supplied PC Adaptor -- depending on the specific Smart 3000D Unit specifications. It enables Two-way e-mail messaging and some Remote Commands (optional) and some Data Retrieval (optional).

Fleet Management Solutions

The Smart 3000D System is an integrated hardware and software Fleet Management platform, designed and operated by SatSmart, for the supply of fleet management services over the Internet.

The fleet manager, using a standard Internet connection, can have permanent access to the data on his vehicles (position, itinerary, status of on board sensors...) without any technological complexity.

The Smart 3000D System is the most immediate and easy to use system for positioning and monitoring vehicles and for Fleet Management using the Internet. Any Authorized User just has to connect to the User Area of the SatSmart Web Server using a browser on any Internet-enabled computer to instantly get all the real time information about the vehicles.
